Castle Sands

£85.00

9.5” x 7.25”

Acrylic on board

I painted this scene on a moody day in St Andrews. It was after a series of dramatic and storms swept through the town, damaging the pier and churning unexpected detritus along the shoreline. One such unexpected object was a huge piece of driftwood which had washed up on Castle Sands.

It felt symbolic painting St Andrews Castle within this post-storm scene, considering the amount of Scottish storms it has weathered in its over 800 years of existence.
