Blue Horse is a gestural study of a horse in blue in watercolour. It emerged from an afternoon spent poring over my grandfather's collection of Old Masters books.
I am fascinated with the historic way animals have been painted and represented in imagery and how this has changed and shifted over time.
This piece is a study of an 18th century painting. It felt right to frame it in a traditional way - similar to the way that the art my grandfather collected looks and so I framed it in this black and gold frame I found.
