Oil on canvas
35 × 25cm
Painted in a period of bad weather from my car, this piece was a spur of the moment response to the moody March weather.
This piece was painted in the car park of Charleston House in Lewes - previous home of Vanessa Bell & Duncan Grant - members of the Bloomsbury group - and I think there’s something humorous about the fact I had visited this beautiful place and ended up sat painting the car park in the rain.
It is sometimes in the liminal spaces, the in betweens, the car parks and grey days that we find solace.
This piece is a reminder of that.
