This small-scale piece was inspired by a desire to look closely. I spent the morning painting in my old art teacher's garden and was struck by the vivid pink camellia bush. I decided now was as good a time as any, and began what became a three-part series. This painting is a small reminder that we don't need to wait until we're ready - we just need to do it, and the rest will naturally unfurl.
